1. About ECUST

Located in Shanghai, East China University of Science and Technology（ECUST） was founded in 1952. ECUST is as one of the national key universities directly under the administration of China's Ministry of Education. The main campus is situated in downtown Xuhui District and enjoys the convenient public traffic, which can be reached by Metro Line 15. ECUST started enrollment and cultivation for international students in 1956. It is one of the official HSK test centers in China. ECUST continue to offer Pre-university program for international students. Our program will help international students improve rapidly in language, major, cross-cultural communication and other aspects. It will also make the international students easier to apply for their dreaming universities.

3. How to Apply

3.1 Eligibility

• Non-Chinese citizens who want to study in science or engineering in Chinese university but have not met the undergraduate admission standard.

• Good performance in high school and good learning capacity.

• Be aged over 16 and in good health; those who are under 18 before August 31 of the application year, please visit Downloadto download and submit GUARANTEE STATEMENT.

• With TOEFL 60 or IELTS 5.5 or Duolingo 90 or equivalent level.

3.2 How to Apply

Please log in East China University of Science and Technology online application website: http://apply.ecust.edu.cn/ 

• STEP1: Click Register, use your email to register and sign in

• STEP2: Apply now-None-degree Programs-, select "Foundation Program"

• STEP3: Fill in personal information, upload passport, study experience, resume and study plan

• STEP4: Submit

• STEP5: Pay application fee, upload payment proof （Only remittance or bank transfer needed）

3.3 Application Deadline

     Sep. 1^st, 2025 

4. How to Pay

Payment of tuition shall be completed within 5 days after getting the E-admission letter.

5. Admission Procedures

5.1 Please follow the application procedures, and pay the application fee. （Results will be coming out in 2 weeks.）

5.2 After getting the E-admission letter, please pay the tuition fee within 5 days, and send the payment proof （Only remittance or bank transfer needed） to cie@ecust.edu.cn 

5.3 After receiving the confirmation of your payment, E-documents will be issued for student visa.

5.4 During the first week, school will post course instructions. All the new students should finish registration.

5.5 The class will be open with at least 10 students.

6. Others

lAbout Visa

E-documents for student visa shall be provided after admission, but no visa documents will be issued for those who are already in China during winter or summer vacation. 

lAbout Accommodation

On-campus dormitories’ are limited, dorm booking information will be informed later.

lAbout refund

There will be no refund of tuition fee to the applicants who give up enrollment due to personal reasons. For special circumstances, applicants can apply for retaining the qualification to register in the following semester, the paid tuition fee will be retained and postponed to the following semester. Due to visa refusal, failure to run the class, or force majeure, the tuition fee can be fully refunded.
